How to Write a Maintenance Resume

Writing a maintenance resume should focus on past employment, knowledge of specialized machinery and skills which could be of special interest to a particular business. Make sure the language is clear and the information is accurate. If writing is not one of your strengths, ask a friend to proof read for spelling and grammar.

Past experience is a major asset. Employers often look for past work records to show reliability, trustworthiness and unique skills which could be utilized in different maintenance jobs. Here is a list of basic information you should list on your resume.

If you managed staff in prior positions, include the size of the staff and list their responsibilities.
Write about budgeting and ordering responsibilities in previous jobs. Show any examples where you saved money or helped the budget.

Trustworthiness is often a major concern in many businesses. Do you have any examples in your life which demonstrate your honesty and responsibility? Do you have any special skills which could be used in the business? (i.e., do you have a background in carpentry, painting, plumbing, etc?) Mention your willingness to work odd hours, holidays and weekends.

Prospective employers are looking for reliable workers they can trust. Include references in your resume writing which are available and willing to give you a positive review. If you submitted your resume on line, you might also want to mail in a hard copy.

When you start, writing a maintenance resume might seem overwhelming. There are basic templates available on line which will help you get started. Choose a format that is simple and you are comfortable with. Make sure to double check all your personal information and make sure it is up to date and accurate. Don’t let the process overwhelm you. If you keep it simple, honest and as complete as possible your resume will be impressive.
