Resume Writing with the Power Word Limited
Limited – a restricting or governing force
also: limit, limiter, limiting, limitation, limitations
Limited shows the candidate’s ability to:
- put restrictions on spending
- place rules on work protocols
- emphasize efficiency
While limiting carries a lessening connotation, it is often the case used when taking a “less is more” mentality. Lengthy briefings are no longer briefings by definition. When reports are too long, it is a sign that you may not understand what is significant and what is irrelevant.
By giving yourself a limit on how long your resume is, you verify that it will include only the most prevalent of information.
Creative Skills:
When designing posters for the museum, we were limited by a 4×8 frame space. Our goal wasn’t to design extravagant advertisements but a method by which to convey the most amount of information to guests in the least amount of space. This is a creative goal in and of itself.
Conclusion: You maximize the amount of content in the least amount of space.
Clerical Skills:
In dentistry, we commonly seeĀ patients for years if not decades. In order to conserve space in their files, we use a shorthand to summarize the procedures a patient has received over the years. This limiting of space means all of our patients folders are smaller and more organized. Thus making it easier for the doctor to quickly and concisely evaluate what has been done and what needs to be done.
Conclusion: You understand the importance of tidy and efficient recollection.
