How to Write an Agricultural Manager Resume

An agricultural manager resume needs to illustrate your ability to be a self-disciplined performer with a strong all-around skill set. Though there are some general areas of specialization for agricultural managers, such as farming, ranching, or aquaculture, within each area there is considerable variation in the daily task requirements. Employers value potential candidates who appear to have something to contribute in environmental awareness, mechanical repair, and market prediction.

Personality is also a key element of concern for potential employers. This is due to the fact that many agricultural managers are a part of small farming operations, so cultural fit is critical. Self-Motivation/Self-Disciple: There is always something to be done on a farm, ranch, or other agricultural property, and it is your job to find what needs doing and get it done. As a result, your resume needs to show your ability to self-motivate and be self-disciplined about your work.

Administrative Skills: Although most agricultural work has an outdoor component, there is also a significant amount of administrative work that covers taxes, regulations, and the sales aspect. Resumes that express good administrative skill sets will be at an advantage.

Work Experience: Any experience you have actually doing the tasks that the position requires should be highlighted. Apprenticeships, internships, and time spent on family farms are valued throughout the field.
